What is the purpose of this training?
The purpose of this training is to prepare catechumens (those desiring to be joined to The Orthodox Church) to live their lives as Orthodox Christians, as members of the Body of Christ. It is the required catechism - the official training period culminating in baptism at Holy Trinity.
If your goal is learning about the Orthodox Church, but not joining the Orthodox Church, you are still welcome to sit in on the course.
Where?
All trainings are in person at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, some in our temple and some in our parish hall. We do not offer an online option.
When?
Our online calendar is always up to date and has been updated to include the 16 sessions for ‘26-’27. Always double check for any changes. We meet most Saturdays beginning in the fall from 330-510pm, and students are expected to stay for the services of 9th Hour & Great Vespers from 520-630pm. A more detailed schedule of lessons will be sent to participants who sign up.
Is there a fee?
No. But we gladly accept donations for the materials we use and upkeep of the facility.
Are there required texts?
Yes! Some of these may be available in our bookstore. All can be found online. Students should have these ready for our first class or get them if you are joining the class at a midpoint in the year.

What is a catechumen and how do I know if I’m ready to become one?
A catechumen (Greek: κατηχούμενος) is one for whom the deliberation period is over; someone who has decided to join the Orthodox Church; and who is preparing for official reception into it.
