What is the purpose of this class?

This class serves 3 purposes:

  1. To offer inquirers a low stakes exploration into the Orthodox Christian faith, whether or not they are considering joining.

  2. To serve as the required catechism, that is, the official learning period preceding baptism, for those who desire to join the Orthodox Church.

  3. For further study of those who are already members of the Orthodox Church.

Where?

All classes are in person at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, some in our temple and some in our parish hall. For those who live over an hour drive from the church, a Zoom option is available.

When?

Our online calendar is always up to date. Double check for any changes. We meet most Saturdays from 345-515pm, and students are expected to stay for the service of Great Vespers from 530-630pm. A more detailed schedule of lessons will be sent to participants who sign up.

What if I live out of state?

Currently, we do not offer any classes for those outside of our geographical flock. This class is intended for those who, upon joining the Church, intend to make either Holy Trinity or the Clovis mission their home church. You will have a better experience learning in person from the priest or catechist of the Orthodox parish closest to you.

Is there a fee?

No. But we gladly accept donations for the materials we use and upkeep of the facility.

Are there required texts?

Yes! Some of these may be available in our bookstore. Students should have these ready for our first class or get them if you are joining the class at a midpoint in the year.
