“Saints and Serpents: Dragons in the Lives of Orthodox Saints”
What do you do when you meet a live dragon? Fr. Andrew Stephen Damick tells the stories of what Orthodox saints did when confronting the most fearsome of demonic monsters. He also talks about why and how these monsters came to be included in the traditional texts of saints' lives.
The Very Rev. Archpriest Andrew Stephen Damick is Chief Content Officer of Ancient Faith Ministries, the former pastor (2009-2020) of St. Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, and author of The Wolf and the Cross, The Lord of Spirits, Arise, O God, Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy, An Introduction to God, and Bearing God, all from Ancient Faith Publishing.
He has been podcasting since 2007 and is host or co-host of multiple Ancient Faith Radio podcasts, including The Lord of Spirits,The Great Tales, The Orthodox Pilgrim, Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy, and The Areopagus.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from North Carolina State University, a Master of Divinity in Orthodox Theology from St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, and a Master of Arts in Language and Literature from Signum University.
He speaks frequently at lectures and retreats both in parishes and in other settings, and his work is well-known throughout the English-speaking Orthodox world not only for his books and podcasts, but also via documentaries and online video. His work has been translated into Romanian, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Lithuanian, Russian, Swedish, and Vietnamese.
He does believe in both dragons and giants.

Will there be childcare?
Yes! Holy Trinity is offering childcare for $20 per family for the entire weekend.
Is the retreat open to anyone?
Yes and no. This retreat is intended for members of Holy Trinity and its neighboring Orthodox parishes, St. John’s students, and friends & family. If you’re not sure, let us know.
Is it true St. John’s students are free this year? Do they still have to register?
Yes! A generous donor has offered to pay for all St. John’s students. All St. John’s students still need to register below, and should contact Fr. Jesse for the scholarship code.
Can I just drop in?
Yes but if you hope to eat with us, be prepared to offer a donation for the meal.
What if I can’t afford to participate?

What should I bring?
Notebook & pen/pencil - If you’d like to take notes during the talks.
What should I not bring?
Because it is a retreat, it is a great opportunity to retreat from the insanity of the outside world. Consider leaving your smartphone, tablet, computer, etc. at home.
